They say it all goes too fast. They say that in the blink of an eye, you’ll wake one day to find your children have grown, your house empty, and your heart longing for the days of old.

Geesh, I could cry just thinking about it.

Time is an interesting concept, isn’t it? I mean, if you think about your own life, I’m sure there have been plenty of moments where you wish time would have moved just a little bit quicker. Still, there are other instances where our efforts to freeze time seem futile. Life tends to pass us by much too quickly…faster than we would like it to.

As mothers, we know this predicament all too well. We cherish the beautiful moments God gives us with our children and pray that those times will never cease. On the flip side, we ask for strength as we battle through the various phases (and stages), our children struggle with. We hope that these moments pass quickly (as we desire better ones ahead), and plead for the strength to endure, in a manner reflecting the teachings of Christ.

As the mama of three young children, I find myself in a continual conflict with time. I want to keep my children small but know I must prepare them to fly. I want to protect them from the growing pains they will surely encounter but realize that ultimately, I am not in control. I want to forever feel their sweet arms around me, but am all too aware that their need for mom’s hugs will soon decrease, as their desire for independence blooms.

And, now I am crying. Geesh!

I, like you know these emotions and feelings all too well. But the question we tend to ask ourselves (as moms) is what to do with them. For me, it was as simple (and as tough), as putting them down on paper. I needed to write what my heart was feeling and express what my mind was saying. And it was through these moments that I felt compelled to provide my children (and yours), with a keepsake that could be read and enjoyed together (and maybe even passed down from one generation to the next). It was through my own experiences as a blessed mommy that my children’s picture books came to fruition.

You see, like you, my children are my greatest blessings. And like you, I have the strong desire to let them know how special they really are. They indeed were created for a specific calling as part of a perfect plan designed by our Heavenly Father. As their moms, our task is to help guide them, and foster an environment that will put His plan into action. Though each of these books is different in their own right, there is a common theme depicted within them. I felt it necessary to let our children know that throughout each and every stage of their lives, they have been cherished, they have been loved, and they most certainly have been prayed for…and they always will be. Forever.

Because as we all know, this “season” of our lives will only last for so long. And it’s up to us to cherish those sweet moments of motherhood before it passes by too quickly.
