When troubles rain down, trusting Jesus allows you to splash in the puddles.

Autumn is here, and with it clouds and rain. Rain used to depress me until I gave myself permission to splash in the puddles.

In our lives we wish for forever-summer. We love sunshine and leisure. We want bright, happy days for ourselves and our children. We attempt to plan our lives to get as much of both as possible.

But cold winds creep in to our ideals. Gray clouds roll in. Cold rain comes. The rain splatters down in the form of unexpected expenses, undesired illnesses, and unresolved conflicts. We find ourselves chilled to the core and trembling. Our minds scramble for answers—ways to make everything sunny again.

Even worse is when the rain drenches our kids. Can't things go easier for them?

Unlike the calendar year with marked-off seasons, in our lives we'll never able to anticipate how long a season of thunderstorms will last. Yet when we can't figure out the future, there is someplace to put our trust.

When troubles rain down, trusting Jesus allows us to splash in the puddles.

Rain comes in all our lives, and Jesus doesn't leave us to walk through it alone. Knowing our times are in His hands can bring a lightness to our gray thoughts. It can bring a skip to our steps.

Struggles remind us this earth isn't our forever home. Rain comes to everyone, but how you handle the season will greatly impact your kids.

Do you trudge through problems or find ways to grow your trust? What your little ones see you do is how they'll learn to respond to the storm clouds in their lives.

Is there cold rain in this season of your life? Don't look at the clouds; instead reach your hand to your Savior.

“But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in your hand,” Psalm 31:14-15

Feel the joy, knowing Jesus is there with you. Allow your heart to trust in His goodness. Then take a large step forward and splash in the puddles of life, knowing your times are in His hand.

And don't be surprised if your soon have company—happy, childish smiles—as you splash in the puddles together.
