For those of you who have a smartphone, it's time to make it your FITphone! Here are some great ways that it can be used to keep you on track!
Here are 5 ways that I do this!
1.) Accountability
I do this in multiple ways. (And if you are wondering if I really use accountability in my journey, YES I DO!)
- Text Messages: Easy way to check-in through the day!
- Voxer (an app you can download): This is my current favorite! It's like a walkie talkie, but better!
- Phone calls (remember the old school way? ha)
2.) Food Journaling
There are times when I need to lean up a little bit or get myself back on track. The food journaling apps on smartphones are excellent! Try MyFitnessPal or Lose It!
3.) Focus
Many times I'll put a motivational statement or bible verse on my lock screen so that it keeps me focused on my goal. I have to change it often because it's easy to get used to seeing it, thus you look past it, but it is an awesome tool.
4.) Music and Podcasts
I use music when I am running or at the gym, and I use podcasts when I'm doing pilates type exercises and FOOD PREPPING for the week! Keeps my mind busy while my hands work! Not sure who to listen to? Ask your friends, or put your hot topic items in the "search" menu on your podcast app! (i.e.: family, marriage, christian, leadership, marketing)
5.) Apps
Pinterest helps me when I need a recipe while at the grocer, Nike Training Club is great for a quick workout, Tabata Timer works great at the gym when I want to do a speed workout, and instagram to get food and exercise inspiration! (And to share what you are doing, too!)
So if you have a smartphone, why not make it your FIT phone?! Do you have anything you would add to this list?!
Press on!
