I love a cute bag. But there are some bags that are way more than just cute. Not only have I found a stellar bag (thanks to my friend Erin), I also have found an incredible company.
Better Life Bags based in Hamtramck, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, has a mission to make a life better through each bag sold. Hence the name, Better Life Bags. They strive to build lives through the production and sales of their bags. Because the unemployment rate is 20% in Hamtramck, BLB has an awesome opportunity to give back to the community that they operate out of!
They hire women, who otherwise cannot get jobs, to work for BLB. They rent them a sewing machine and tools while teaching them a skill set that allows them to become a primary or secondary provider in their families. Most of these women are first generation immigrants from countries such as Yemen and Bangladesh, so BLB is also able to provide them with much needed fellowship and friendship as they visit their homes to deliver fabric and pick up orders.
One of my very favorite things about buying a Better Life Bag is the designing process. You actually get to pick out the leather and the fabrics you want for your bag, which makes it a one of a kind creation that is 100% you-nique.
I chose the Brynnda Bag which is the perfect size for my planner, notebook and laptop, along with a few other things (I can always find something else to put in my bag!) ;). I love the combo of green, black and white so here is my creation below...
I literally take this bag with me everywhere. It is perfect to grab and put in the car for a long ride where I can work on a few things, or on a plane to fit all of my essentials for the flight. It is extremely durable. I love the pocket on the inside, front and back. The strap is comfortable to wear across your body and makes it easy to carry it on a trip.
There are all sorts of bags to choose from when building your bag.... Sooo many cute purses and different styles so you will definitely want to take a look for yourself to find the best type of bag to suit your needs. It seemed as if I was always looking for a good size bag to put my work stuff in so the Brynnda was the perfect choice for me.
