Summer Beauty Survival Guide: Tips & Essentials

Summer Beauty Survival Guide: Tips & Essentials

Okay, you guys, it's that time of year when the kids are home, the sun is out, and we can finally take a moment and breathe (hopefully). It's also that time of year where we need to change things up a bit with our beauty routine, and I'm here to share all my best Summer Beauty Essentials & Tips to help you and your skin survive these summer months!

First up, if you're planning on wearing makeup at all this summer, then you absolutely need the Skindinavia Primer Spray & Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray. I am absolutely hooked on these two, not only to hold my makeup in place throughout the summer months, but really it's a necessity all year round! It's also super easy to use & apply, just lightly mist in an X & T formation (primer: before, finishing: after) to set liquid and powder makeup and then watch your makeup stay in place for up to 16 hours -  despite the heat!

Bonus benefits:

  • Helps to prevent redness, uneven skin tone and large pores. (primer)
  • Takes away powdery finish of makeup, makes your skin look like skin. (finishing spray)
  • Won’t clog pores like silicone. (both!)

Next up: There doesn't seem to be a day that goes by that I don't find myself mentioning to someone my obsession with It Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC Cream. (Which I daily mix with one drop of Marula Pure Beauty Oil for an added glow + amazing skin benefits. This oil is packed with Omega 9's, Vitamin C, antioxidants, Vitamin E and so much more. Basically it protects and repairs your skin in a way you just simply can't live without.)

Okay, so back to the CC Cream and why I'm addicted, and why most likely soon will be too. Being a beauty blogger I have tried what feels like a million foundations, and nearly every single one of them tends to settle into my sweet little (or not so little) fine lines and wrinkles. Especially the smile lines around my mouth, which I absolutely am not trying to draw more attention to. However, this little gem of a CC Cream has actually held up and truly does stay in place! I also love that it doesn't look like you're wearing a heavy foundation, it simply (and truly) looks like your glowy, healthy skin...but better!

PLUS...as found here, it also has SPF 50+ UVA/UVB physical only sunscreen that protects against the rays that both burn your skin and age your skin. CC+™ is infused with cutting edge Anti-Aging technology and is clinically shown to improve skin texture, brightness and increase skin hydration by 79%. The Anti-Aging hydrating formula is infused with Peptides, Niacin, Algae, Vitamins A, C, B, E, Hyaluronic Acid and Hydrolyzed Collagen along with Antioxidants and exotic natural botanicals for long-term brightening and color-correcting benefits.

Now, if you haven't picked up the Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes, your underarms are truly missing out. I seriously keep a pack in every purse, bag, and drawer, and I'm so in LOVE the beachy tropical vacation scent/vibe I get every time I use them. You just never know when your deodorant might fail you, and these wipes have saved me so many times! You'll still want to use your normal daily deodorant, but I would definitely encourage you to keep these nearby in order to quickly freshen up right when you need it most!

I know this isn't new news, but you guys, WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN! Wear a lot, and wear a high amount. Skin cancer, wrinkles, sun spots...they're not a favorite, so do what you can to prevent them as much as possible! For the last year or more, Alba Botanica Sunscreen has been the top contender for our family in that it smells amazing AND it's actually air powered so it's not hazardous to spray and use. Get it, use it, love it!

Of course, sometimes life happens and we miss a spot with our sunscreen or we forget to reapply and the burn truly burns. It's happened to me (at least once every summer), and thankfully in those cases, Maui Vera always saves the day. Be careful when reaching for other aloe vera treatments, because so often aloe is the last ingredient on the list, which means there may as well not be any at all. I love Maui Vera because Aloe is the FIRST ingredient, plus they add in lavender, noni, peppermint, green tea...and so many other incredibly healing and soothing essential oils to make it the perfect healer your skin needs.

Speaking of sun damage, have you noticed yet that your chest is often the first area you start to see the effects of sun damage? You know, those freckles that weren't there before, or the white spots that never seem to go away? Hi, yes to all of it for me, which is why my newest addition to my bathing suit collection is the High Neck/Halter Style Bikini Top. Not only is it trending (and modest!), but it also totally covers and protects your chest. It's so much easier to prevent damage than to treat it, so do what you can now!

And finally, along the lines of the whole whats on trend + preventing sun damage theme, let's round this list out with a super fun Panama Style Beach Hat. I love the one I show in the video below from Target (also totally loving the price!), and all trends aside...my recommendation is that you always sport some type of hat that will shade your face as much as possible.

Sunscreen, a halter style bathing suit, a cute hat AND an umbrella (okay, actually, all the things on this list), and you will have everything you could possibly need to survive these hot but oh so fun summer months!
