Moving Your Children from Jealousy to Joy this Christmas {A Review}
Have you ever wondered how to help your children make the shift from jealousy to joy? In this world where we have a constant opportunity to compare ourselves, especially on social media, it is easy for our kids (and us) to get wrapped up in trying to be like someone else. We might wish to have the attention and positive feedback that someone else receives. We might wish to be involved in the activities that someone else is involved in, or we may simply want to be “liked” just as someone else is liked.
What is the solution to this problem? We need our identity rooted in Christ and we need to pass on this God-confidence to our children as well. Since Christmas is around the corner, I would like to introduce you to a parent training video on this subject of comparison that actually centers around the Christmas story! This video will aid you in making some connections with why comparison is something we shouldn’t engage in, and how to explain to kids through the Christmas story that we shouldn’t try to collect the “likes” for ourselves.

The creator of this teaching is Stephen Shearsby from www.AntonsAntics.com. He is from Australia and does live gospel shows & training for kids and parents. He uses art, humor, and storytelling to teach children. This particular training is especially for parents to watch this Christmas season. He shines a fresh light on the Christmas story in Matthew 2:1-12. In all honesty, his angle on the Christmas story was something I hadn’t thought of before.

I think it’s pretty neat to see, that whether your family lives in the United States or Austrailia, we all have to protect our hearts and flee from comparison. It’s a struggle, but it’s worth our time to teach our children how to fight this battle. There is only One who deserves all the likes. Let us continually remember Him who liked us... LOVED us enough to send His Son on the cross. Nothing compares to a love like that!
