Hi, friend!

Hi friend! I am so glad you have stopped by the site. We have such a wonderful community of moms here and we would LOVE for you to join us as we share life and learn together!

The Gift of Motherhood

The Gift of Motherhood

Mother's Day is fast approaching, and with it the inevitable advertisements of gift suggestions-- everything from breakfast in bed to beautiful bouquets to new cars in the driveway. Some of us will indeed be fete'd by trays of breakfast in bed, with varying degrees of culinary success but always love and pride obvious in the cooking by our little ones or kind husbands. Perhaps there's even a mom somewhere who will wake to a shiny red car in the driveway (though I've never met her).

Often, though, women I know have expressed disappointment on Mother's Day. The expectations are built so high that when the day actually arrives, we are inevitably saddened by some slight, whether our husbands forgot to make a card from us from our newborn or the dinner reservation is to a restaurant we don't like. Perhaps our grown children will forget to call. Maybe there's never been any acknowledgement of Mother's Day in our homes, at all.

Plenty could be said about planning in advance: the necessity of expressing what we really would like to see happen on Mother's Day so people aren't left to read our minds, training our children to honor people especially on these types of "special" days, or even planning ways to celebrate ourselves! Those are all certainly valid and worth consideration. However, I wonder if it might help even more if we shifted our thinking about this day altogether.

"Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward." Psalm 127:3

This is a pretty familiar verse, but if you're anything like me, that means you've stopped hearing it.

Children are a gift of the Lord. Every precious life in your house was given to you by the Lord Himself, designed to be a blessing and benefit to you (and the world, of course).

Mother's Day? It's already covered. Whether your gifted children are tucked snugly in beds behind doors down the hall or the memories of those days are tucked snugly into your mind while they've scattered across the globe, you have not been forgotten because the best gift has already been given.

When is the last time you thanked the Lord for the gift of your children?

Happiest of Mother's Days to you!

Blessings,

Misty Krasawski
