Connie, Eugene, and Whit are family friends. Are those familiar names in your home too? I grew up listening to Adventures in Odyssey, my husband grew up listening to Adventures in Odyssey and now our kids are growing up listening to Adventures in Odyssey. Whatโs not to love about the quality script writing with character-building takeaways? Adventures in Odyssey is notorious for being family friendly and also helpful in making time on the road go by faster.
My parents have a stock of Adventures in Odyssey cassette tapes in their basement. They are in the locked vault of my parent's secret basement closet where our childhood treasures dwell. Itโs not really locked and itโs not really a vault but my mom does keep a close watch on what comes out of that room. Iโve thought about borrowing a few albums of Adventures in Odyssey as well as the stash of Lincoln Logs, but the truth is I donโt think we can handle it. Iโm trying to raise my kids to be good stewards of their belongings or the property of other, but we once took an album of cassettes home from my parentโs house and practically obliterated the packaging. My mom had managed to keep the case in excellent condition for 20+ years and in 2 weeks the Feldpausch tornado spun the items out of whack and into disrepair. [sigh] I am not proud of that and we really need to work on taking care of putting CDs , DVDs, and toothpaste caps back in their rightful places.
โLetโs Put On A Showโ is a new CD set from Focus on the Family. It contains over 2 hours of audio entertainment including some bonus footage and new voices.
Themes that are covered in the volume are:
- Trust in Relationships
- Compassion
- Fathers and True Treasure
- Contentment
- New Beginnings
- Spiritual Preparedness
You will hear some of Connie as she tries to work through tough things with her sister, Jules Kendall. Buck Oliver opens up more with Eugene, but both Jules and Buck find themselves in trouble with the law! The story titled, โFather and Sonsโ had much to do with what we value and where true treasure can be found. The Legacy tracks have a few surprises from old friends and as usual, our 5 year old to our 11 year old were able to follow the stories.
I would describe this volume of CDs to be inventive. They were different than some of the Adventures in Odysseys that we are used to hearing. Perhaps it was some of the show-tune-type songs or perhaps it was some of the newer characters that we didnโt recognize. Either way, it did hold our attention as we discovered something new on our familiar drive home!
Continuing to look for the toothpaste cap and add to that a few marker caps,
Lindsey Feldpausch :)
