A Simple Solution For Finding Creative At-Home Projects for Your Children
Okay, I’m just going to lay it out there. I am not crafty. And I am not creative in a crafty way. I’ve always been envious of the moms who can throw together a homemade costume the night before a special day at school or whip together a craft for the whole classroom to participate in last minute. Like, how do they do that?! That is so not me. And I wish it was. This also means that when it comes to school projects or just fun projects for little ones at home I don’t do so well either.
There has always been this internal battle within me because I understand the importance but it seems so overwhelming. Spending quality time together helping our kids be creative and also letting them explore their creativity on their own is essential for healthy well-rounded growth. Developing minds need stimulated and challenged not just by a textbook but by actually working with their brain and hands to create! I would spend forever searching online for just a simple craft or activity while hoping and praying we would actually have all the needed materials it called for! Ha! Somehow over the years, I pulled together things here and there and my kids have had plenty of other ways to get creative with projects but I don’t think it has to be so difficult.
Keeping it simple is key. And I especially love tools that help me keep it very simple which is why I’m excited to tell you about a brand new website and app for families called Kidiosity. My daughter Sophia and I tried it and we love it!
Kidiosity provides activities each week that are fun, interesting and educational for your kids. Step by step instructions are provided, with images and all the activities are so doable! They are even working on a neat integration with Amazon that will allow users to purchase any necessary (and Kidiosity recommended) materials with just a few clicks! The activities include educational tidbits and/or discussion topics that allow parents to illuminate “lessons” or engage in meaningful conversations that coincide with the activity.
Sophia and I tried the bones activity below because yes, we had all the materials at home… and it was a fun way to talk about the bones in our feet and hands!!
Kidiosity is in the very beginning stages and looking for families to try out their app or website to provide input and feedback to help them perfect their system so they are offering a FREE month subscription for my community here at TheBetterMom.com!! Here is the LINK to sign up!
Here are a few other things I love about Kidiosity:
You can schedule your activity! To help parents move from just talking about it to actually doing it, they offer the ability to schedule the activity. When you pick the child and the day they will then be prompted to send you a reminder as a gentle nudge when the time is near!
In a world inundated with technology, Kidiosity is a neat opportunity to use technology to reduce the use of technology. In other words, they want to encourage parents to use the app as a reference for activity step-by-steps or conversation starters, but mostly spend time focusing on their child(ren) doing fun activities and engaging in meaningful conversation.
They also provide meaningful topics to discuss every day, conversation starters that allow you to connect with your kids in new and interesting ways. You’ll have the opportunity to share wisdom and life lessons, and you just might learn something from your kids.
They offer helpful resources for parents such as tips from other parents, interesting factoids, curated articles, and a few laughs, delivered daily to help you enjoy these special days.
If you are looking for a great way to connect with your kids and be able to actually complete a craft or project, Kidiosity is a great option!
You can sign up for your FREE MONTH HERE.
Once you give a try Kidiosity would absolutely love to hear from you to help them develop and provide an even better resource and experience for families moving forward!
With you,
Ruth
