Hoodwinked Moms Book Club {Week 4}
Welcome to week FOUR of The Hoodwinked Book Club!!!
This Thursday we will be discussing chapters 8, 9, and 10 of Hoodwinked: Ten Myths Moms Believe and Why We All Need to Knock It Off.
We will cover these myths of motherhood:
Motherhood Is the Luck of the Draw
Everything Depends on Me
I Have to Do It All Right, or My Child Will Turn Out Wrong
Below are this week’s questions. But remember, don’t answer them on this post. We will take your answers and have the discussion on Thursday. They are just posted here so you can be thinking about them as you read.
Chapter 8 Questions:
- “Many parents want their children to become what they themselves are not.” Hmm. Is there any area of your motherhood where you’re expecting something of your children that you’re not exemplifying?
- What is the vision you have for your kids? For some who accepted the gospel message mid-way through parenting, how did the vision for your kids change after you began living for Christ?
- Which part of the passage from 1 Corinthians 13:4–8 about love, is the most challenging for you? Why?
Chapter 9 Questions:
- When have you been most aware of God’s “I am” being sufficient for your “I am not?”
- When did you feel most alone in motherhood? How did God reveal himself to you during that time? What are you still waiting on Him to do or show you?
- How did this chapter encourage you? Did you identify with the author’s sentiments to “talk to God about your kids?”
Questions for Chapter 10
- What did you take away from the story of David rejecting Saul’s armor?
- When you find yourself parenting out of comparison, how do you stop?
- “We can’t judge the results or declare a final verdict too soon.” Have you ever experienced a difficult season with your children— one where you didn’t have much hope—but later, you saw the fruit?
Looking forward to discussing with you Thursday! See you then!
Blessings,
