3 Powerful Prayers for the Angry, Tired, or Worried Mom
It’s an uncertain time for so many of us.
Illness, social distancing, job loss, new school protocols, pay cuts, lost loved ones … this list goes on.
Now, more than ever is the time to hit our knees in prayer. Prayers are needed for our kids, our schools, our healthcare system, our families, our government, our country, our world…
But sometimes we don’t know what to say. We are at a loss for words.
What do we do then?
Pray anyway.
Even if we feel weak in prayer, God’s Spirit hears us and will quite literally pray for us too.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)
I get it. I’m tired … I’m angry … and I’m worried myself.
I’m tired of not knowing the future, of caring 24/7 for myself and my family, and emotionally and spiritually tired.
I’m angry that this pandemic is affecting every single person in our country, that people still aren’t following social distancing protocols, that I cannot be with people I know and love, and many are getting sick.
I’m worried about my children’s educational progress, family and friends who are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19, and the future of my family’s work and jobs.
I want to connect with God and pour my thoughts, worries, and cares out to Him. Especially right now, in this uncertain time of a global pandemic.
And I want you to, as well.
So if you are tired, angry, or worried would you pray these scripture-based prayers with me?
I know God will hear us and answer in His own way.
Tired mom, pray this:
Heavenly Father, I am tired. You see the demands of my days. You know the demands of my family and of my work. And Jesus, You hear the cry of my heart. You know the exhaustion of my mind, body, and spirit's more intimately than even I do.
Jesus, I ask that you revive me right now. I know you give power to the faint, and increase strength to those who have no might.
Give me rest, Father — physical, emotional, and spiritual — so I can serve and love more abundantly. Your Word says to come to you, all who are weary and you will give them rest.
Here I am, Lord.
Give me your yoke and wrap your loving arms around my soul, for your burden is light. Help me to learn from you, Jesus - you know the need to be alone and rest. Now Lord, help me to make time for this and recognize the opportunities you've provided.
Father, I thank you for your love and understanding and I put my trust in you right now. I thank you for your promises and praise you for your goodness!
In the peaceful name of Jesus, Amen
Angry mom, pray this:
Father, thank you for this opportunity to come before your throne of grace. Because Jesus, I am need of your grace right now. I am upset and angry. I cannot remove this anger without your help. Move my heart, Lord, to where I can be kind and compassionate to others and my situation, forgiving - because You first forgave me.
In my anger, keep me from sinning, Lord Jesus, not allowing the devil a foothold. In my weakness, you are strong and your power is made perfect. Strength me with and through your compassion, Lord.
Help me to learn from this experience and grow in Christ. Show me how to handle this situation, Jesus, and what steps to take next. Give me the grace to overflow to others and wipe my anger away.
Lord, you have given me grace and forgiven me for so much - thank you. You are amazing and I am so grateful for your love and compassion. Remove my anger before it becomes sin and separates me from you.
Now to Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen
Worried mom, pray this:
Lord, thank you. Thank you that YOU are my ROCK and my FORTRESS. Thank you that you are steadfast and unchanging.
Jesus, thank you for being an anchor for me today.
Lord, I’m drawing near to you in full assurance of faith that you are in control. May your will be done today, Father. I give my worries over to you, as I know you work all things together for the good of those who love you and are called according to your purpose.
Rather than continuing to worry, Jesus I ask that you take the worry in my heart and change it into an opportunity for me to see you at work in mine and my family’s life. Be with my children as they walk through this day. Be with my other family members. Keep them safe and healthy.
Lord, ease the anxious thoughts, because I know that you care for me and tell me to not fear. It’s so hard though, Lord. But I will keep replaying in my mind your unfailing faithfulness as a reminder to not fear.
Jesus, do as only YOU can right now and give me a peace that transcends all understanding — a peace that is Your peace.
Thank you, Father, for being here with me now. Thank you for being the Lord my God who takes hold of my right hand and says, ‘Do not fear. I will help you.’
It’s in Your unchanging Name I pray, Amen.
Take these prayers, print them, and pray over and over as needed, Mama.
I’ve prayed for you too. And God’s got this.
