Surviving Summer with Essential Oils
Summer is among us! And I Can. Not. Wait. to enjoy backyard barbeques and pool time with friends and family. In fact, we are hosting our first barbeque in just a few weeks for our Refuge Church family in Ann Arbor. But there are a few things Iโm going to make SURE we have on hand to make the outing a success.
First, Iโm whipping up some mosquito spray. Thereโs nothing worse than trying to enjoy a beautiful day while swatting at mosquitos! I just purchased some glass spray bottles on Amazon to have on hand for these mixtures. You can find them here. They are the perfect size for these sprays! Here is the recipe:
2 cups of water
5 drops of lemon essential oil
10 drops of eucalyptus
20 drops of citronella
Next, Iโm having plenty of LavadermCooling Mist on hand. This spray, you guys, itโs amazing! Not only can you mix 20 drops of carrot seed oil to it for extra protection from those rays, but you can use it by itself for a cooling affect after too much sun exposure. Honestly, Iโm not sure what I did before I tried this! My fair-skinned son just came in from playing outside last week covered all over in tiny bumps, which I can only assume was from overheating. I sprayed him with Lavaderm and within 10 minutes they were gone!
And finally, the recipe Iโm most excited to serve up!
STRAWBERRY LEMONADE
2 cups strawberries
4 cups of water
Juice from 1 lemon
5 drops of lemon vitality oil
Honey (to your liking)
Just puree the strawberries in a blender first. Then pour them into a glass pitcher and add all of the other ingredients. Sweeten it up with honey to your liking and viola! Youโve got a refreshing drink to serve! This only serves 4 so double or triple the recipe if youโre having company!
Looking forward to a sun-filled summer! If youโre interested in trying some of these oils yourself, click here!
Blessings!
Nikki
